What is METAPOR®
METAPOR® is a micro porous composite material, permeable to air and gases.
METAPOR® can be easily machined without closing the pores. Due to the complete air permeability of the material, no vacuum channels or holes have to be drilled. The entire even surface prevent any deformation of sensitive parts. Many different types of granules, such as aluminium, stainless steel or ceramic and various pore sizes are available to solve your challenge.

Tools for vacuum forming or thermoforming:
The METAPOR® technology delivers „breathable“ tools and mould inserts. Traditionally, thermoforming tools require numerous very small holes in order to create air-pressure which forms the hot plastic sheet around details of the mould. Since METAPOR® is air-permeable, the tedious process of hole drilling is completely eliminated which results in substantial time and cost savings.  This allows the production of extremely complex shapes with intricate details. Even engraved details and structured surfaces can be replicated.

METAPOR® Air permeable materials for vacuum clamping devices and air cushion systems
The slab material has been successfully used in vacuum clamping applications to clamp sensitive parts like very thin foils, wafer, platines or electronic parts in a secure, precise and careful manner as well as complex form vacuum grippers.
As an element for air screen bearings METAPOR® is applied for rotational bearing devices, longitudinal bearing devices and air screen beds and rolls for conveying supplies as well as for air supported silo discharging and dosing equipment.
A major advantage of METAPOR® is the air accumulation within the material. This characteristic feature reduces air consumption and noise level and enables high carrying force or clamping force, even if the porous surface is partially covered. In contradiction to porous sintered metals, METAPOR® can be easily machined without closing the pores.
